FIRST EVER TRIBUTE CD RELEASES

San Francisco, Calif (August 25, 2009). – The buzz continues to build for the CD, Silky Soul Music...An All- Star Tribute to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly releases digitally today, August 25, 2009 and in-stores September 29. The highly anticipated ten-song CD features brand new studio recordings of Maze’s biggest hits such as “Joy and Pain” and “Before I Let Go.” The set boasts an impressive list of urban music artists such as the legendary Mary J. Blige, Musiq Soulchild, Ledisi, Kem, Mint Condition, Joe, Raheem DeVaughn, Kevon Edmonds, Avant and the Clark Sisters with J. Moss and Kierra Sheard.

Grammy nominee Rex Rideout (Vanessa Williams, Will Downing, Ledisi) and Anthony Beverly (Frankie’s son) produced 9 tracks on the album. Grammy winner Donald Lawrence produced the Clark Sisters’ “I Wanna Thank You” track. “For the most part, we let the vocalists, and their distinctive styles command how the songs would be freshened,” says Rideout. “All of the artists did great jobs interpreting Frankie and bringing a new twist to a great song book.

"Seeing my father's reaction to the final album was priceless,” says Anthony, who also served as one of the executive producers on the project (along with Music services, LLC and his entertainment attorney wife, Heather Beverly). “To see the emotion on his face when he heard each and every song was one of the proudest moments of my life. He loves the album and is overwhelmed that so many people came together to make it happen. It is definitely a project that gives my father and Maze their just due."

Around the country, there have been exclusive listening parties that have brought out everyday fans, music industry VIPS and celebrities such as the iconic Stevie Wonder who stopped by the Hollywood album release party. Radio stations across the country are ecstatic about the tribute CD project. Joe’s remake of Maze’s “Can’t Get Over You” is #32 on the Nielsen BDS Urban AC National Radio Airplay Chart and continues to fuel the fire this project has ignited.

No one is more pleased than Frankie Beverly himself. “The tribute album for me is a special blessing from my God,” he says. “Most people who have had a tribute album given to them were not here to see it, feel it or hear it. Well, no matter what happens in the days, months or years to come, I have indeed been blessed to see, feel and hear this gift of gifts from a loving son and his lovely wife. There are no words to express my true gratitude for all the artists involved, all of who gave one hundred percent of themselves to this project. San Francisco, Calif. – Brantera Music Group, Inc. today announced the spectacular all-star line-up for the upcoming album entitled “Silky Soul Music….An All- Star Tribute to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly” which is set to be released summer 2009.

The tribute album will include a host of Grammy Award winning and nominated gold and platinum-selling artists in R&B and Gospel, including Mary J. Blige, Musiq Soulchild, Joe, Mint Condition, Raheem DeVaughn, Ledisi, Kevon Edmonds and the Clark Sisters with Kiki Sheard and J Moss. (More artists to be announced at a later date.)

The album is the brainchild of Frankie Beverly’s son, Anthony Beverly, who is serving as the project’s executive and co-producer. Beverly developed the idea to properly honor his father’s contributions to the music industry in a way that has never been done before. It is the first and only album recognizing Beverly and Maze’s nearly 40-year career including 12 albums and 30 hit singles.

Beverly said it is an amazing experience working with these exceptional artists who, like Beverly, have experienced his father’s music throughout their lives.

The project is the brainchild of Frankie Beverly's son Anthony Beverly, who, in an effort to properly honor his father's contributions to the music industry, is serving as the executive producer of this ultimate tribute project celebrating his father's accomplishments including 30 hit singles, twelve albums and more than forty years in the music industry.

Gospel star Donald Lawrence and Grammy-nominated producer Rex Rideout are among the first collaborators to sign up for an all-star tribute album honoring legendary R&B group Maze, Billboard has learned exclusively. "Silky Soul Music...An All-Star Tribute to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly" is being produced through Brantera Music Group Inc., headed by Beverly's son Anthony.

In addition to Lawrence, who is contributing a full-blown gospel version of Maze's 1984 track, "I Wanna Thank You," Anthony is currently negotiating with several other veteran and new artists from the R&B, gospel and jazz arenas. Rideout is serving as co-producer of the project, whose selections will include a cross section of memorable Maze tunes, among them: the No. 1 R&B hits "Back in Stride" and "Can't Get Over You," "Silky Soul," "Before I Let Go" and "Golden Time of Day."

Getting its big break in the early '70s as the backing band and opening act on a Marvin Gaye tour, Maze signed with Capitol and later segued to Warner Bros.. The group's first major R&B chart credit was 1977's "While I'm Alone" which peaked at No. 21.

"After 30 hit singles and 12 albums, I thought it was time to get this done," says Anthony, who doubles as the project's executive producer. "The group's longevity boils down to one word: real. My father is real about everything he does; that's what people love about Maze. And that's what I'm trying to bring off with this record, using live instruments and artists who exemplify—and have been influenced by what my father is about musically."
